The Albany Common Council's passage of a nonbinding resolution that directs cops not

to ask anyone questions regarding immigration status is at the very least, a sanctuary

city's starter kit.

Adding "not posing a threat to the community" language into the resolution really misses

the point. Can an unlicensed driver operate a motor vehicle, so long as he or she wears a

seat belt and uses the turn signals?

Proponents of this measure apparently see no delineation between legal and illegal

immigration. Calling those with dissenting opinions "haters" is further evidence of how

weak their argument really is.

Who will speak out for scores of people who attain their citizenship legally? Those who

wait patiently and play by the rules. Is there any compelling reason to enter this country

legally anymore?
